Our skin loses collagen as we get older and as a result, we begin signs of ageing begin: Wrinkles, joint pain, dry and brittle hair & nails!
What is Collagen?
Most of the proteins in our bodies, or around one-third of them, are composed of collagen. It can be discovered in cartilage, tendons, skin, bones, and other connective tissues. One of collagen’s many crucial jobs is to give our cells and tissues structure and support.
Our skin also contains a significant amount of collagen, which keeps our skin looking and feeling young. Our skin produces less collagen as we get older, which causes wrinkles and other aging symptoms.
Collagen from our youth to older.
The body creates a lot of collagen during childhood and the first few years of adulthood.
Unfortunately, the amount of collagen starts to decrease when we reach our mid-20’s. Even more so in women because of menopause, which causes a considerable loss of collagen in the first five years.
From about 25 years of age and onwards, the body will create 1% less collagen annually. Despite the decreased collagen production, there won’t be many noticeable signs in the beginning stages of collagen loss and will only appear in later years, starting in your 30’s.
When should I start taking a collagen supplement?
Collagen is a natural substance and so it can be taken at any age, but it is recommended to start in your mid 20’s.
By taking a collagen supplement (Platinum Collagen) you may start noticing a difference in,
- Healthy hair & nails
- Less & improved wrinkles (anti-aging)
- Easier joint mobility
- Improved gut health
- A happier and more confident you!
